Artificial Intelligence Use Policy

Our Approach to Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence (AI) tools are now part of how many publishers research, organize, and edit information. Because ProNail Complex publishes content about nail health, nail care, and dietary supplements, we believe readers deserve to know whether and how AI is involved in what they read.

This policy explains where we may use AI, where we do not, and the safeguards that apply. It works together with our Editorial Policy and our Corrections Policy. To learn more about who we are, visit our About Us page.

Our Core Principle: Humans Are Accountable

AI is a tool. It is never the author, the editor, or the authority.

Every piece of content published on ProNail Complex is reviewed, fact-checked, and approved by a human editor before it goes live. The editor named on our Editor Profile page is ultimately responsible for the accuracy and compliance of everything we publish, regardless of which tools were used to prepare it.

How We May Use AI

We may use AI-based tools for limited, supportive tasks, such as:

  • Research organization: Summarizing publicly available documents, grouping topics, or identifying questions readers commonly ask
  • Outlining: Suggesting article structures and headings
  • Drafting assistance: Producing early drafts or alternative phrasings, which are then rewritten, verified, and edited by a human
  • Editing support: Checking grammar, spelling, readability, and tone
  • Translation and localization checks: Reviewing spelling and terminology differences across English-speaking markets (US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand)
  • Technical tasks: Generating metadata suggestions, accessibility descriptions, or website code

How We Do Not Use AI

To protect our readers, we have set firm limits. We do not:

  • Publish AI output without human review. No article goes live without editorial approval.
  • Treat AI as a source of evidence. AI tools can produce incorrect, outdated, or invented information, sometimes called “hallucinations.” Statements about health, ingredients, or regulations are always verified against original, reputable sources, such as the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements, MedlinePlus, and the FDA.
  • Use AI to create medical advice. AI is not used to diagnose conditions, recommend treatments, or respond to personal health questions.
  • Fabricate reviews, testimonials, or customer experiences. We do not use AI to invent or alter testimonials, ratings, or “reader stories.” The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has finalized a rule banning fake reviews and testimonials, including those generated by AI, and we comply with it.
  • Fabricate experts or credentials. We do not use AI to create fictional doctors, specialists, authors, or personas, and we do not attribute AI-generated statements to real people.
  • Present AI-generated images as real customers or real results. Illustrations, where used, are for illustration only, and we never use synthetic images to imply real before-and-after outcomes.
  • Use AI to generate disease claims, exaggerated promises, or false urgency. Our standards on claims are the same whether content is written by a person or assisted by a tool.

Our Human Review Process

All AI-assisted content goes through the same editorial workflow as any other content:

  1. Source verification: Every factual claim, statistic, and regulatory statement is checked against its original source.
  2. Claims and compliance review: The draft is reviewed for disease claims, unsupported statements, missing affiliate disclosures, and misleading comparisons, consistent with the FTC’s Health Products Compliance Guidance and the FDA’s rules on structure/function claims.
  3. Editorial rewriting: Language is revised to ensure accuracy, clarity, and a consistent, responsible tone.
  4. Final approval: The editor approves the content before publication.
  5. Ongoing maintenance: Content is reviewed periodically and updated as guidance and research change.

Accuracy, Bias, and Limitations

We recognize that AI tools have limitations. They can reflect biases in their training data, misstate facts, oversimplify complex topics, or sound confident while being wrong. For that reason:

  • We cross-check AI-assisted statements with authoritative sources.
  • We avoid relying on AI for time-sensitive or regulated information without verification.
  • We apply extra scrutiny to anything related to health, safety, and legal requirements.

Our approach is informed by recognized frameworks for responsible AI use, such as the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, and by Google’s guidance on AI-generated content, which emphasizes that content should be helpful, reliable, and created for people rather than to manipulate search rankings.

Transparency and Disclosure

  • We do not hide the use of AI tools from readers. Where AI materially contributed to a piece of content, such as an AI-generated image or illustration, we will say so where appropriate.
  • Routine tools, such as spelling and grammar checkers, are not disclosed on individual articles but are covered by this policy.
  • If our practices change in a significant way, we will update this page.

Commercial Relationships and AI

ProNail Complex participates in affiliate marketing and may earn a commission if you purchase a featured product through our links, at no additional cost to you. AI tools are never used to disguise promotional content as neutral information or to bypass our disclosure obligations under the FTC Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255). Read more in our Monetization Policy.

Data Protection and Privacy

When we use third-party AI tools, we apply the following safeguards:

  • We do not enter reader personal information (such as names, email addresses, or messages sent through our Contact Us page or Feedback Policy channels) into public AI tools.
  • We do not enter confidential or sensitive health information into AI systems.
  • We aim to select tools with reasonable privacy and security practices.

How we collect and protect personal data, including your rights under the EU/UK GDPR, the UK Information Commissioner’s Office guidance on AI and data protection, and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), is explained in our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

We aim to respect the intellectual property rights of others. We do not knowingly publish AI output that copies protected material, and we review content for originality before publication.
